Grassroots and Organizing
Don’t disparage … a drop in the bucket.
That’s how buckets get filled, that’s how lives are changed, and that’s how opportunity is created.

Leave safety behind.
Put your body on the line.
Stand before the people you fear
and speak your mind
– even if your voice shakes...
-Maggie Kuhn
Unfortunately many voices in our society are not heard, they are not sought out, they are not encouraged. Those voices are hidden behind fear, under circumstance, behind oppression, and willful suppression.
'Cause silence
Is violence
In women and poor people
If more people were screaming then I could relax
-Ani Difranco
When the whole world is silent,
even one voice becomes powerful.
- Malala Yousafzai
Sarah believes that all voices should be heard. She listens for the voices of people in need. Through grassroots organizing she has found that she can amplify voices that are not generally heard. She empowers individuals to use their voice, and to understand that their voice is important, their voice can make a difference, their voice is needed to make the world a better place.
Sarah has led several successful grassroots campaigns. She worked in Cleveland to support a Domestic Partnership Registry as well as adding Gender Identity and Expression into Cleveland's nondiscrimination policy.
In Pittsburgh she began a voter registration/ engagement campaign in predominantly Black communities. With the team she developed she was able to able to facilitate 13 canvasses, with ~190 volunteer shifts in just 10 weeks. The group knocked on ~3,500 doors and did ~1,200 follow up phone calls.
Nothing can stand in the way of the power of millions of voices calling for change.
-Barack Obama
Hope is like a path in the countryside.
Originally, there is nothing --
but as people walk this way
again and again, a path appears.
-Lu Xun
